Laoshr Damo was born in 1980 into a family of Martial Artists. His Mother and Father (Chris and Paul) are both long term traditional Karate practitioners. His Father has also studied Yang Taiji Quan for a great many years.
From the age of 4 Damo began to study the external Martial Arts alongside Zen and various systems of Yoga.
At the age of 14 Damo began to shift across into the internal Martial Arts and began to study Taiji Quan in depth as well as Qi Gong and various other Eastern systems.
By the time Damo was in his mid twenties he had studied Karate, Aikido, Kendo, Shaolin, Taiji Quan and Bagua as well as spending small periods of time researching other styles.
Yang Taiji Quan became the system that captured Damo and encapsulates the highest ideal of martial philosophy as he sees it. This became his major area of study and his practice continued under Phil James and Shen Hongxun amongst others.
After 20 years of full time study in the Asian Arts Damo began to travel and continue his research abroad, here he began to learn more about the Hun Yuan system of Taiji Quan with Grandmaster Ni Yuanhai who Damo continues to study with.
As a philosophy, Daoism provided Damo with the most complete picture of the nature of existence and transcendence. Internal Alchemy became a major part of his studies and this led to Damo studying under various teachers including Master Hu Xuezhi on Wudang Shan.
Damo's teachings are the culmination of his life study (so far) in several spiritual traditions.
